I'm Luke - a Perth-based Senior Fullstack Engineer with a decade of experience building things at every scale.

Work

Most of my career has been at Atlassian, where I helped found and scale the Frontend Monorepo from a single design system into a platform powering thousands of frontend packages and dozens of full scale apps (including Jira and Confluence). A few things I'm proud of:

• Changesets - original author of the early versions of Changesets, which has since been rewritten, open-sourced, and adopted across hundreds of open source projects
• Landkid - original co-author of Atlassian's frontend merge queue, a vital tool for preventing semantic conflicts in a repo that merges 200+ PRs a day
• DX & CI/CD at scale - built and maintained hundreds of pipelines for building, testing, type-checking and deploying thousands of frontend packages

I'm one of the lucky people who gets to do their passion as a job and then comes home and keeps doing it.

On weekends I'm almost always building something — from small games, micro-apps, PWAs and tools to full stack applications and automations for home, events, fundraisers, comedy shows, small businesses, and more.

A couple I'm most proud of:

• Generozity - a charity platform my brother and I built, complete with donation portal, admin interface and live OBS overlay for livestreams. So far it's raised over $800,000.
• Rap GPT - a crowd + LLM powered freestyle rap game, built for comedian Macshane and performed at packed shows from Perth to Edinburgh Fringe.

Other times I just love coding for the sake of it — working within creative constraints to see what's possible. That's led to pure CSS apps (a binary decoder, a rhythm game, a tic-tac-toe AI, a "mind reading app" 😂), a code-golfed Snake encoded entirely in a URL, and a palindromic symmetric tattoo in a profanely named esoteric programming language 😅.
